A very special commission for a client in North Yorkshire. The motifs are memories from the farm that has been part of her family for over 90 years. Her father’s passion for fly fishing and her Pisces birth symbol, the wheat they grew and the oak that watched over their family.
After years of rewarding work, the land has passed on to the next generation.
The line splits into a rainbow in remembrance of her final drive down the mile long approach and the rainbow that appeared overhead.
A line from a poem is embroidered onto the side. The poem by Sheenagh Pugh was the final thing she read before leaving the farm for the last time and perfectly captures the start of a new journey.
All of my favourite things
This bespoke Story Stool is for a special client in California. Each motif relates to a personal memory that we’ve captured in thread.
From the design and colour of the coffee cup to the species of tulip, we’ve honed in on the small details to make it truly personal.
The larger frame was specifically designed to fit a space in her house. I particularly love how the central leg curves out from the middle of the frame.
Bespoke birthday gift
A beautiful birthday commission for a client in the UAE. The kiwi bird is a bespoke embroidery symbolising New Zealand, where they got engaged.
The lemon and freesia motifs are from my Haikuriosity collection, their yellow tones really complement the tawny velvet base.
The frame is my signature three-legged design in solid walnut.
Mother daughter collaboration
This bespoke Story Stool is a beautiful collaboration between mother and daughter.
I was delighted to meet Kate and Jemima in London where I showed them the embroidery studio and we chatted through their ideas in person. My favourite motif has to be Pierre, the family's beloved dog. We worked carefully to capture his character in thread.
The shell and ribbon - both meaningful symbols to Jemima - echo the golden tones of the velvet base.
In the left corner, a pop of red comes from the Mary Jane shoe, a nostalgic nod to Jemima's childhood.
A pink tulip represents their shared love of this flower, as well as a fond memory of the times Kate would leave tulips for Jemima in her bedroom.
Wedding surprise
A wedding gift full of memories. This Story Stool was designed for a client's soon-to-be-daughter-in-law. A combination of existing motif designs and a bespoke daisy bring together her favourite things.
New life
This Story Stool was commissioned by a wife for her husband's study.
The couple's names are linked closely to the sun and the moon while the planet in the middle symbolises their soon to be born child.
The leopard is a female called Nkoveni who has show amazing strength and resilience raising her family on the Londolozi game reserve. She holds a special place in the hearts of these clients.
On the side of the Story Stool is the outline of a grill - a small easter egg for those who notice.
